I usually have Easter eggs and bunnies all throughout our house at this time of year.  We usually host Easter brunch or dinner at our home, but this year we will be away.  So … since I didn’t decorate much this year, I thought I’d share some of my favorite home decor ideas using Easter Eggs.

Most pictures are on my Pinterest board called “Happy Easter“.   You can follow any of my boards on Pinterest.  (Picture above from Talia Audenart).

Using eggs as containers (or vases) for flowers can add so much to an Easter tablescape.  You can dye the raw eggs first in desired colors.  Crack open the eggs (on the pointed side of egg) and clean out the egg shell.

Small flowers work best (Pansies, lily of the valley, lillac).  I have several old silver egg cups that I found at antique flea markets.  I also have found white, glass egg cups (like upper, left picture) at HomeGoods and online.

For the artistic, handpainted eggs make beautiful decorations.  (Martha Stewart, left and Censational Girl, right).

I found these eggs above at Roger’s Gardens.  They come with ribbons attached — making them adorable hanging from a window or chandelier.

There are many cute egg crafts for kids.  Get out your scrapbooking supplies and decorate colored eggs with ribbons, rhinestones and more.  Or display decorated eggs in the cute muffin/cupcake papers.  (The grass papers are available at Michael’s Craft Store).

You can make beautifully decorated eggs using punched paper.  These eggs above are decorated with flower-punched paper.  Get ready to glue …

And there are many cute Easter desserts and treats to make in the shapes of eggs.  I’ll do a separate post of Easter treats.  Stay tuned…

I love spring and Easter!  And spring tablescapes are among my favorites!  There are so many choices for flowers and colors in spring.

This year, I will use a white quilted bedspread for my tablecloth.  I believe I found it at HomeGoods or Marshal’s a few years back.  I’ll add my white ceramic dishes and blue linen napkins (from Pottery Barn, a couple of years ago).

For Easter Brunch, I’ll probably use champagne flutes.  About 10 years ago, I started collecting pretty champagne flutes – in pairs.  I like having an eclectic collection.  And, at parties, it makes it easier to remember which is your glass!

While I love big, dramatic centerpieces — they are not very conducive to conversation around the dinner table.  Here I used the blue glasses I purchased at Anthropologie last year as vases for pink ranunculus, white freesia and white tulips (from Trader Joe’s).

I added a couple of white ceramic bunnies.  And some pink mercury votive holders (Anthro, this year).   Add a few blue robin eggs on a glass pedestal … and you have a simple Easter tablescape.

Decorating for the holidays is a fun way to display collections.  I have been collecting holiday decorations for over 20 years. Although my tastes have changed through the years, I find that you can’t go wrong with vintage and traditional decorations. There are always ways to update — especially by adding some inexpensive items or new color(s) from places like Target, HomeGoods, Tuesday Morning or Marshal’s. I have collections of vintage Santas, snowmen, mercury ornaments, Easter bunnies, hand painted eggs, Valentine/heart ornaments, and Halloween ghosts & goblins — to name a few.

I love to create vignettes that showcase my collections. Fireplace mantels, entry tables, bookcase shelves, occasional tables and buffets all make wonderful places to create your holiday vignettes.

I have a small collection of Nicol Sayre bunnies … several of which I found at places like TJMaxx and Marshal’s.  Roger’s Gardens always has beautiful displays of Nicol Sayre folk art for Christmas, Easter and Halloween.

I found the hand painted eggs at Roger’s Garden’s many years ago.

I generally use the “odd number” rule of thumb when displaying items.  At times, I like to create vignettes using a monochromatic theme. Have fun with your own creations!
