My girlfriend Debbie and I went to our local antique flea market* this morning. We came home with some great finds!
Christmas in March … I found this box of vintage Christmas ornaments for $25. This is a great time to find Christmas decorations at flea markets and garage sales … as the closer it gets to the holiday, the more expensive and difficult they are to find. You’ll have to wait until December to see how I use them in my home…
We both bought old architectural drawings. I found several Fontainebleau original drawings from the 1800s. Debbie and I both bought beautiful drawings of ornate door hardware from the 1520s.
I am creating a gallery style collection of framed architectural drawings and pen & ink drawings up our stairway. It’s a style of artwork that my husband and I agree on. More to follow in another blog.
* The Groves Antique Flea Market is held the first Sunday of the month at Irvine Valley College. It opens at 7 am and it’s best to get their early. Over the years, I have found great silver serving pieces for entertaining, vintage holiday postcards, sugar molds (long before they were popular), vintage costume jewelry, Asian rice baskets, and of course … great ink drawings. You do have to weed through a lot of stuff, but the treasures can be worth the time.
